How to disassemble Atlas vacuum pump： 

1.Relieve the oil    

2.Loosen the screws of inlet nozzle flange, then take out the inlet nozzle. Loosen the flange screw with air ballast, and take out the air ballast valve.  

3.Disassemble the oil tank.  

4.Dismantle the split pin of check valve, and then disassemble the impellers of check valve. 

5.Remove the connection screw between the support and the pump to take out the pump parts. 

6.Loosen pump cover screw and take apart the front cover to pull out the second rotor and the rotary vane.When removing the lower rotor, please remove the cotter pin at first.

The most common problems occurred when handling Atlas vacuum pump maintenance：

Out-leakage, inner leakage, oil circuit clogging, poor pump oil, pump oil contaminated or spoil contains vapor and other coagulator substance, instruments and apparatus distort, and abnormal operation of vacuum pump. 

When more oil leakage happens, white vapor can be seen on the outlet. There are many bubbles at the oil leveler. Put your hands on the outlet and you will feel the exhaust pressure. There are many bubbles in the oil surface of low level exhaust valve. Power will increase slightly. 

Inner leakage is due to movement clearance within the pump, outlet valve seat plane, sealing surface of exhaust valve, the internal shaft seal, pump cover plane, the inlet pipe, air ballast seals. The operation clearance will enlarge by wears, corrosion and bites.

To solve the problem of oil hole clogging, please open the lubricant oil filling hole and the noise will be lighter. In the case of a well-sealed tank, the outlet valve may fail if the hand is sucked on the vent. If the vacuum pump oil is clean and in idle for a long time, the air ballast valve can be opened to purify the water vapor in the pump. Otherwise, please check the instrument.

If the pump oil become yellow and emulsified, please fully open the gas ballasting and adjust air ballast purification operation, for better purification effects, please put some proper gas into the inlet of pump. If the gas is other volatile gases or liquids, please change the oil on time, and clean the oil tank regularly. For some kinds of vacuum pumps, the pump fluid is deposited in the inter-stage airway. For better oil change effect, please try your best to drain the deposited pump fluid. 

Ultimate pressure is valued by pedestal type compressed mercury gauge. However, the value will increase when using calibrated thermocouple gauge and other full gauge measurements. Please pay attention that the thermocouple vacuum gauge is calibrated in pairs. It is recommended to use a spare parallel calibrated regulator for comparison in case of suspected contamination distortions.
